Accessibility Statement
Jewelry, and a welcome, for everyone
At Thacker Fine Jewelry, hospitality has been our hallmark for more than forty years. We believe every guest, online or in our Lubbock showroom, deserves to discover beautiful pieces with comfort, dignity, and ease.
Our Commitment to Accessibility
Thacker Fine Jewelry is committed to ensuring that our website and physical showroom are accessible to people of all abilities. Our roots run deep in West Texas, and that means treating every guest like family, including those who experience the world through assistive technologies, mobility devices, or sensory accommodations.
We view accessibility not as a checklist, but as an ongoing practice woven into the way we design, build, write, photograph, and serve. When we fall short, we want to hear about it, and we will make it right.
Standards & Conformance
Our digital experience is designed to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, learning, and neurological conditions.
We additionally aim to meet the requirements of:
- Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) as it applies to public accommodations and commercial facilities.
- Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act, where applicable to our business operations.
- State and local accessibility statutes in Texas and the markets we serve.
Accessibility Features of Our Website
We have built thackerjewelry.com with accessibility in mind from the ground up. Key features include:
Keyboard Navigation
Every interactive element, including menus, product filters, image carousels, forms, and the checkout, is reachable using only the Tab, Shift+Tab, Enter, and arrow keys. A "skip to main content" link is available at the top of each page.
Screen Reader Compatibility
We use semantic HTML5, ARIA landmarks, and descriptive labels so that screen readers can announce headings, regions, buttons, and form fields clearly. Image carousels and decorative elements are appropriately hidden from assistive technology.
Visible Focus Indicators
Every focusable element displays a clear, high-contrast focus ring so keyboard users always know where they are on the page.
Alternative Text for Images
Meaningful images, including product photography, lifestyle imagery, and editorial content, include descriptive alt text. Decorative imagery is marked as such so screen readers do not announce it.
Color Contrast
Body text meets a minimum contrast ratio of 4.5:1, and large text and interactive controls meet at least 3:1, in accordance with WCAG AA.
Resizable Text
Text can be enlarged up to 200% using your browser's zoom function without loss of content or functionality. Our layouts reflow gracefully on mobile, tablet, and desktop displays.
Captions & Transcripts
Where we publish video or audio content, we provide captions, transcripts, or both. If you encounter media that is missing these accommodations, please let us know and we will provide an accessible alternative.
Reduced Motion
We honor the "prefers-reduced-motion" setting in your operating system. Animations and transitions are minimized or removed when this preference is detected.

Assistive Technologies We Support
Our website is designed and tested to work with widely used assistive technologies, including:
- Screen readers: JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver (macOS and iOS), TalkBack (Android), and Narrator (Windows).
- Voice recognition: Dragon NaturallySpeaking, Voice Control (macOS and iOS), and Voice Access (Android).
- Keyboard-only navigation for guests who do not use a mouse or pointer device.
- Browser zoom and text resize up to 200% and beyond.
- Operating system display preferences, including high contrast, dark mode, and reduced motion.
Ongoing Efforts & Continuous Improvement
Accessibility is never finished. To keep raising the bar, we:
- Conduct regular automated and manual audits of our website against WCAG 2.1 Level AA criteria.
- Invite user feedback and real-world testing from members of the disability community.
- Provide staff training on inclusive customer service for our showroom team.
- Review new features, page templates, and third-party tools for accessibility before they go live.
- Document and prioritize remediation of any issues uncovered through testing or guest feedback.
Known Limitations & Areas Under Improvement
We believe in being honest about where we still have work to do. At this time, the following areas may not yet meet our accessibility goals:
- A small number of archived product photographs may have alt text that is shorter than ideal. We are reviewing and rewriting these as part of our ongoing audit.
- Certain downloadable PDF brochures and care guides may not be fully tagged for screen reader use. We are working to remediate or replace these with accessible HTML equivalents.
- Some third-party embedded tools (see next section) may present limitations outside of our direct control.
If you encounter a barrier we have not listed, please reach out, your report helps us prioritize fixes.
Third-Party Content
Portions of our site rely on third-party services, including embedded social feeds, payment processors, shipping calculators, mapping tools, and chat widgets. While we select vendors with accessibility in mind and advocate for improvements, some third-party content may have its own accessibility profile that we cannot fully control.
If you experience difficulty with a third-party feature, please contact us, we will provide an accessible alternative or complete the transaction with you directly by phone, email, or in person.
Alternative Formats & Assistance Requests
If you would like product information, receipts, appraisals, care instructions, or any other document in an alternative format, such as large print, plain text, accessible PDF, audio description, or read aloud by a team member, we are happy to provide it at no cost.
Reach out by phone, email, or in person, and a member of our team will follow up promptly with the format you need.
Compatibility Statement
Our website is designed to be compatible with the most recent two major versions of the following browsers and operating systems:
- Browsers: Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, and Microsoft Edge.
- Operating systems: Windows 10 and later, macOS 11 and later, iOS 15 and later, Android 10 and later.
- Assistive technologies: Recent versions of the screen readers and voice tools listed in Section 05.
